Guwahati, March 27, 2019:

The Phase-II of scrutiny of Lok Sabha election candidates is over and out of the 45 nominations which were filed in Assam, 4 have been rejected by the Election Commission. The Congress party will, in the meantime, breathe a sigh of relief as the INC candidate, Anil Borgohain, has been cleared to contest the election after his nomination was initially adjourned during the first phase of scrutiny.

The rejected candidates are Dewan Rongpi (NPP) who sought to contest from the Autonomous District and Ratul Ahmed from the Republican Party of India (A) and Bhupen Chandra Das from the Purbanchal Janata Party (Secular), both aspirants from Mangaldoi Constituency.

Karimganj, Silchar, Autonomous District, Mangaldoi and Nowgong will cast their votes during the second phase of the elections in Assam.
