KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Bhaskar Phukan today informed that all the mechanisms are in place to conduct the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in a "free and fair" manner and flying squads have been formed. The elections will be held in two phases on December 7 and 10, while the counting of votes shall take place on December 12.

Talking to Inside Northeast, Phukan stated, "We have formed as many as 5 flying squads to monitor the situation in the BTC and to keep an eye on the goings-on in the district."

The Kokrajhar DC further informed that there are 390 voting centers in five constituencies under Kokrajhar subdivision. The five Constituencies are: Fakiragram, Baukhungri, Devargaon, Salakati and Bonorgaon.

Out of the 390 voting centers, 179 voting centers are sensitive, while 102 are "most sensitive voting centers."

CCTV cameras will be installed to surveil the environment, said Phukan.

Meanwhile, all voters have been urged to maintain protocol pertaining to the COVID-19 and all voters should wear masks while entering the voting centers to cast votes, Phukan added.
