Silchar, April 18, 2018:

In a truly remarkable incident, a paralyzed woman went to cast her vote in Silchar.

The woman cast her vote at the Silchar Polytechnic polling station.

The 66-years old woman is Shefali Kar. Pictures released from the polling station show the election official applying indelible ink to the bedridden lady as a security personnel looks on.

These are the kinds of stories which make us realize the value of casting the ballot to decide the country's future.

It may be mentioned that 95 Constituencies across eleven states and one Union Territory headed to the polls on April 18. Nine of these - Silchar, Karimganj, Mangaldoi, Nowgong, and Autonomous Council - were from Assam.
