At least seven people were killed and 30 injured as a bus fell into a gorge and turned turtle in Goalpara district of Assam early in the morning on Tuesday.
According to reports, five people were killed on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries after they were shifted to a hospital. The bus was heading from Dhubri in Lower Assam to Guwahati, the commercial hub of the Northeast.

Meanwhile, many of the passengers have been admitted to a hospital and are being treated for injuries.
According to media reports, the driver of the vehicle lost control over the bus and accidentally drive right into a roadside electric pole, following which it overturned and fell into a ditch.

The passengers were rushed to the hospital . Media reports that Indian Army and local police personnel were also engaged in the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the demise of the road accident victims and directed the Goalpara district administration to provide all medical facilities to the injured persons.
