A student studying at the Central Institute of Technology (CIT) located at Balajan in Kokrajhar district of Assam has died under mysterious circumstances on Sunday.
The student has been identified as Bikash Das, who was a 7th semester B.Tech student. It has been reported that Das originally hailed from Duhati in Barpeta district.
Authorities have taken the body to the Kokrajhar Police Station and provisions are being made for a post-mortem.
As per reports, a party had been organized on the occasion of student Nayan Jyoti Basumatary's birthday which was also attended by Das. However, Das collapsed suddenly and was taken to MRM Private Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
This incident has created sensation in the entire district and people are demanding high-level inquiry into the incident.

It is to be mentioned that Central Institute of Technology at Kokrajhar or CIT Kokrajhar is an institution offering courses in engineering and it is funded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development of the Government of India. Situated in Assam in the Kokrajhar district, this institution is located only 10km from Kokrajhar Railway Station and was founded in December of 2006.
