Amid the sustained an vigorous protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, members of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) and the general public confronted BJP MLAs, in demand of answers.
At Morantiloinagar Market, Moran MLA Chakradhar Gogoi, was confronted by an angry mob comprising AASU members as well as general citizenry, and they formed a wall in front of his vehicles and would not let him pass. The protesters stood firm and chanted slogans against the ruling BJP Government and sought answers over the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Similarly, another MLA, was hounded by protesters at Kachumari in Sibsagar district. Mahmora MLA Jogen Mohan also faced the wrath of the people.

Both MLAs were confronted while they were headed to BJP functions to pay tribute to former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on his 95th birth anniversary.
It may be mentioned that ever since the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was tabled in the Rajya Sabha, irate locals have been confronting the BJP leaders across the State.
Even Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was not spared -- a few days before the Bill turned into a Law -- was greeted with black flags while his convoy passing in front of the Swahid Diwas, the AASU headquarter.
Earlier in December, Union Minister Rameshwar Teli, was confronted by angry All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) protesters from Naharkatia, who questioned him on the burning issue of the then-CAB.
On the same day, Minister Phani Bhusan Chowdhury, along with his security guards, was seen running towards the safety of his SUV vehicle. Choudhury reportedly had to flee from irate protesters while attending a meet at Manikpur in Assam’s Bongaigaon.
At one point, it seemed like the Minister was going to trip on a treacherously knotty knoll of earth, but to his credit, the 67-year-old managed to find his balance and composure.
