The Nalbari Unit of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), still enraged due to attack on its members by local authorities during a 'CAA' protest, are continuing to show their resentment against the ruling regime through a series of demonstrations.
Central Executive of AASU, Bhabajit Bezbaruah, while speaking to Inside Northeast lashed out at the Assam Chief Minister and PM Modi, and accused them of running fascistic Governments in both the Centre and the State. "Sarbananda Sonowal says he supports democratic protests, yet protesters were beaten by the police personnel right in front of his eyes. Sonowal and Modi have built a fascist Government, and we won’t stand for this."

Recalling the incident when AASU workers were thrashed by the police, he says, "When the CM was headed to Barpeta, we staged a democratic demonstration in Dahudi. However, one of the demonstrators was chased down and assaulted."
Informing that the assaulted man, a local AASU leader called Chandan Bezbaruah is still hospitalized, Bhabajit adds that even journalists have been misbehaved with by the local authorities. "We want immediate punishment for the culprits...DSP Dhruba Jyoti Nath
SDC Police Makib Ali", the AASU leader says, adding the AASU is organizing an 11-hour hunger-strike on January 6 from 6 am to 4 pm, as a mark of protest against the incident.

On Thursday, the AASU had hung effigies of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in 22 different places of Nalbari towns.
Reportedly, Sonowal was confronted with black flags by the anti-CAA brigade in Nalbari when he was on his way from Guwahati to Krishnaguru’s ashram in Barpeta district.
