District Administration and the police forces in the state are gearing up for the 'Kumbh of the Northeast', the 'Ambubachi Mela.'
As informed by the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro), Biswajit Pegu, six devotee rest camps have been set up for the “Ambubachi Mela”. Out of the six, three has been set up at Fancy Bazaar, one in Baripara and two Pandu.
In Naharbari, 29 stocks have been set up to provide food for the 40 thousand devotees and 40 water providing stall will be made available. No individual or private organizations have been contracted to supply water. Supply of water will be looked after by the district transport for which 80 water supplying vehicles have been allotted for the purpose from Kamakhya Railway Station to the temple.
40 ferry cars have been arranged for the old aged people, physically disabled and sick. On the other hand, 10 ferry cars have been arranged for the locals.
Meanwhile, DGP, Transport, Pasanta Saikia informed that the route for vehicular movement in DG Road and MG Road has been blocked for four days. All the vehicles carrying goods have to take the route from Jalukbari to ISBT. Movement of vehicles from Jalukbari to Bharalu, Kamakhya Nursery to Kamakhya Temple will be prohibited.
The administration has marked “No Parking Zone” from Bharalu to Maligaon.
Nearly 250 traffic police will be made available in the DG Road during the period of the Mela.
