The year’s largest congregation of the holy saints is here! The state gears up as the Ambubachi Mela was inaugurated on Thursday in presence of the holiest of the holy saints across the world. The mahautsav as said to be the extraordinary time of worship cycle will be started from 22nd of June from 9:27 a.m till 7:51 a.m on 26th June. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the holiest saints, representatives of different tribal organisations, head priests along with chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma, the chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation and other government officials from all the major departments of Assam. It can be noted that strict actions regarding the security forces has been taken the police force of Assam. Along with other security measures every devotees will be head counted to maintain a proper record of the visitors of Ambubachi Mela 2018.
The government sets up tented accommodation and special camps for a sizeable number of pilgrims in and around the temple complex during the Ambubachi Mela period. While proper transportation facilities, drinking water along with all other necessities are arranged by the Tourism Department of Assam in collaboration with the District Administration. It can also be noted that the Assam Government is planning the Ambubachi Mahautsav passes away in an ambience of tranquillity benefitting the Shakti-Peeth.
