The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Assam Police have arrested a cop for accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 10,000 on the pretext of dismissing a criminal case lodged against two individuals in Assam’s Hojai district.
The team arrested the accused, Officer-in-charge of Doboka Police station, Nilotpal Bhuyan while he was accepting the amount in an envelope. The bribe amount of Rs. 10,000 has been recovered from Bhuyan.

According to reports, Nilotpal Bhuyan had demanded the sum from a complainant, Mohammad Arif Ahmed Lashkar, saying that he would release him along with his cousin, Jiarun Hoque, in a criminal case.

An operation was conducted to nab the accused OC of Doboka Police Station after the complainant Mohammad Arif Ahmed Lashkar approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Nilotpal Bhuyan will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge in Guwahati for further procedures.
