Assam approves Rs 7.62 crore for school uniforms of flood-affected students in four districts

The Assam government has sanctioned Rs 7.62 crore from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to provide school uniforms to flood-affected students studying in Classes I to VIII in four of the state's worst-hit districts.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday, August 1, that Rs 7,62,54,000 has been approved for Samagra Shiksha, Assam to procure uniforms for students in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Jorhat.

The initiative is aimed at supporting children whose education has been disrupted by the recent floods and helping them return to school without additional financial burden on their families.

The chief minister said the government stands firmly with students affected by the floods and is making every effort to ensure that the disaster does not hinder their educational journey.

"Our government is firmly standing beside the flood-affected students and is making every possible effort to ensure that no disaster becomes a barrier to their education. It is our responsibility to safeguard the education and dreams of our future citizens," Sarma said
