Assam | Army Families Motivate Girl Students in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, June 18, 2019:

In a rare and noble initiative, army families visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyaylaya in Kachugaon located in Kokrajhar district of Assam on 17 June.

The army families interacted with the girl students and teachers. This school was established under the 'Sarv Siksha Abhiyan', also known as Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission, in 2016. It may be mentioned that there are 3 such schools in Kokrajhar District.

The Assam Government's initiative has come across as a boon for girls belonging to the underprivileged classes. The under privileged, minority community families who are unable to continue their education because of various reasons are being encouraged to pursue further education due to initiatives like this.

The event witnessed a talk by families of serving soldiers who motivated the girls and teachers, followed by an interactive session which was attended by 11 teachers and 94 students.

Students were encouraged to work hard in academics, pick up reading as a hobby and excel in sports.

After this, Army officials distributed sports equipment, stationary and personal utility items to the students.

Such motivational interactions are sure to impact the budding future generation of our nation.

The Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission (A.S.S.A.M) was established in the year 2001 as a registered society under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860 for implementation of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Assam.

Providing education to all children of the age group 6-14 years has been a directive principle of the Constitution of India.

For achieving the goal of Universalisation of Elementary Education (UEE), the Constitutional obligation (86th Amendment Act) of providing free and compulsory education for all children in the age group of 6-14 years and the formulation of National Policy of Education 1996 (NPE), Government of India launched a number of schemes and programmes.
