DHUBRI: Rahul Parik, an artist who hails from Assam's Dhubri district has made a portrait boxer Lovlina Borgohain who is representing India at the Olympics using sesame and cumin seeds.
Rahul Parik, who has received many plaudits for his immense artistic talent, has come up with the huge portrait of Lovlina who is now competing in the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing mega sports event Tokyo Olympics in Japan to encourage her.
Lovlina Borgohain advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's Welter (64-69kg) event defeating Nadine Apetz of Germany in the preliminary round.
Speaking to media Parik said, “We all want her to bring the Gold and bring pride to the North East. Her story is encouraging, her life is an inspiration and this has made me go the extra mile to use seeds to present her portrait."
Parik has gained expertise in creating portraits of different celebrities Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar, Sonu Sood, Bhupen Hazarika, former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Captain Mittali Raj of India's women's cricket team, Himanta Biswa Sarma, to name a few, using a computer and mobile phones earlier.
It may be mentioned that Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma once took to Twitter to inform Rahul Parik that he would meet Parik in person after seeing his own portrait made out of waste electronic items that the artist had made to congratulate him on becoming Assam CM.
Parik's artistry has been appreciated by the people of the district as well as the state and Lovlina winning her next bout will be the icing on the cake for this young artistic talent.
