Assam Artiste Community Launches Website to Step Up Fight against 'CAA'

Guwahati, February 6, 2020:

Continuing their united resistance movement against the amendment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the artiste community of Assam has appealed the people of the State to follow the movement against the CAA via a newly-launched website, 'Assam against CAA'.

Assam youth icon Zubeen Garg, addressing the media here today, said, "All the information will be here...what we are doing. You will find everything here. There is also a Facebook page where people can follow the latest developments in the anti-CAA movement.." Zubeen also informed that the website, and its complimentary Facebook page is not only meant for the artiste community, but for the citizenry at large.

Prominent actress Barsha Rani Bishaya, who has been one of the staunchest opposers of the controversial legislation, said, "Why Assam is protesting against the CAA....through social media, we wish to convey this message to the world community. From now on, whatever happens in Assam against the CAA, will be publicized through social media...a Facebook page called 'Assam against CAA' has also been launched through which people can keep abreast of the latest developments.."

Barsha further informed that people can tag their anti-CAA movement videos on Facebook, and expressed hope that the people across the world can keep tabs on the anti-CAA agitation through online means. "Everyone has a mobile handset. So if anybody wishes to express their opinion regarding the movement via mobile, this is the initiative."

Garim Garg, another prominent celebrity "Social media is a powerful too. So that the message is conveyed to everyone via social media, we have undertaken this initiative. Some prominent IT personnel are also involved in this endeavour.
