The Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia reacted on the step by Assam Government and said, "Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 17 lakh people will be covered by Arunodoi and Rs 830 will be given from Oct. This is actually a budget scheme but they are doing it for 2021 elections in April. That's why - different constituency has been counted by him itself and he has considered that before saying, Instead, Tendulkar committee consideration by Rahul Gandhi where he forwarded the Nyay proposal should be considered".
On the issue of Rs 830 being distributed, Saikia said, "female member will get monthly Rs 830 which is daily Rs 27. What will a family of 4 do with that money? Buy medicine or fruits? Assam govt should explain this as the lockdown has economically shattered many people. Instead Rahul Gandhi's Rs 6000 provision should be made and extended to be covered to middle class as well".
