In an interview with InsideNE, MLA from Hojai Constituency Shiladitya Deb lashed out at the Asom Gana Parishad and All Assam Students Union
Shiladitya the chief advocator of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 ribbed the regional party of AGP and regional organization of ASSU who were the prime signatories of the historic Assam Accord. He announced firmly his rejection of the assigned year of 1971 for the deportation of illegal immigrants of the Accord. He stated that the leaders bartered the lives of the Assamese People for the pursuit of personal motives. He stated that since 1947 was the partition year and 1951 is the specified year for the deportation of the immigrants for the entire nation, the year 1971 consented by the leaders of the Assam Accord was nothing but a mockery of the Assamese People. He expressed his grievances saying that AASU and AGP ribbed of the people of all its rights in Assam
Another shocker was made by him when he stated that the people leading the agitation against the citizenship Amendment Bill are none but the muslim Bangladeshis. He stated “The people flooding the streets against the Citizenship Bill are the muslim Bangladeshis who have not voted for the BJP”. He said that the ones who are mum on the matter are the ones who has fate in the developmental activities of the BJP. He spoke out loud and clear that every organization leading the protest against the Citizenship Bill are naxalites.
When being asked about his take on the AGP’s opposition of the bill, he jeered at the number of MPs the party has in the Parliament. He urged the AGP(which also happens to be its allied party) to focus on developmental activities deviating from issues like the bill.
Thus it will be interesting to see what repercussions such statements by a representative of the people will indouse.
