The President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid arrived in Guwahati this afternoon by a special flight for a visit to Assam. He was accorded a warm welcome by the Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport along with two state cabinet ministers Ranjit Dutta and Parimal Shuklabaidya besides senior state government and police officials including the chief secretary and the DGP. The Governor of Assam has organised an elaborate reception for the Bangladesh President. The president will attend the founding conference of ISA and the Solar Summit on March 11. The conference will be held at the Cultural Centre, President Bhawan in New Delhi. He will visit his memorable places in Assam and Meghalaya as he was the sub-sector commander of the Bangladesh Liberation Force (Mujib Bahini) during the 1971 Liberation War.
The president will go to New Delhi on Saturday and attend a dinner hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Later, he will attend the inauguration session of the ISA founding conference on March 11 morning and also deliver his speech in the conference’s plenary session. He will also attend the lunch hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day. President Hamid will return home on March 12.
