Assam: BJP Leader Attacks KMSS General Secretary on Live Television, Condemned

Guwahati, November 23, 2019:

Forum Against Citizenship Act Amendment Bill on Saturday condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramkrishna Ghosh’s action on physically attacking Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti general secretary Dhaijya Konwar.

The incident took place on Friday night while the duo attended a talk show on National Register of Citizens (NRC) at a regional media.

Addressing the media, Forum’s convener, Manjit Mahata said that the assault on the KMSS general secretary by the BJP member on camera was unacceptable. He had asked the BJP party to take against the action of the BJP leader for such behavior in public.

Comparing the BJP leaders assault on Dhaijya Konwar to that of the goons of Hitler’s Nazi party, noted Assamese intellectual Hiren Gohain questioned whether the BJP is raring goons in its party?

Former Assam DGP, Hare Krishna Deka also took a jibe at the BJP leader’s action and said that the BJP leader has intentionally attacked the KMSS General Secretary to provoke him as they have been peacefully protesting against the Bill. “If Dhaijya would have attacked back, BJP through its ‘government tools’ could have shut him down,” he added.
