Assam BJP Leader Himanta Biswa Trolls Political Rival Tarun Gogoi on Twitter

Guwahati, January 11, 2019:

Assam BJP leader and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, lashing out at mentor turned political foe Tarun Gogoi over the latter's support for an alternative political option in Assam, stated that the Congress veteran is in "agony" due to the saffron unit's rise to prominence in Assam.

Gogoi, taking to Twitter earlier today, wrote, “A political party has become a necessity now to oust BJP.” Claiming that the new political front has become a necessity after the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act, Gogoi further added" We are not selfishly looking after our own interests because a new political party might inflict some damage on our party as well. We are trying to protect the interests of the people of Assam.”

It may be mentioned here that there is no love lost between Biswa Sarma and Gogoi, as the two have been trading barbs ever since Sarma's defection to the rival BJP camp. Recently, while addressing the press, Gogoi had said that “Himanta Biswa Sarma is a professional singer as he sings for whoever is in power.”

Taking further jibes at his former right-hand man, Gogoi further accused, "Earlier, when Himanta Biswa Sarma was in Congress, he used to sing in favour of me, and now that he is in BJP, he’s doing the same".
