TAMULPUR: The son of Rangja Khungur Basumatary, a new entrant to Bharatiya Janata Party, was arrested by Assam Police in a case related to drugs in Baksa district.
The police team has arrested Rangja Basumatary's 26-year-old son Thulunga Basumatary from the Sesapani area with his partner Manas Das.
The Assam Police's ongoing war against drug across the state has busted many drug rackets in the state and as a part of the same Salbari sud-division police official, Samiran Baishya has conducted an operation in Baksa's Kumarikata on Thursday cooperated by Nilavjyoti Nath, in charge of Kumarkata Police Out Post and his team.

According to sources, the police have recovered a container with 6.8 gram of drugs from Thulunga's possession.
The police have launched this operation after receiving information from another accused arrested for drug peddling case as well.
Thulunga and Manas both are in police custody and both have been escorted to Salbari.
Rangja Khungur Basumatary was a Bodoland People's Front candidate for Assam Assembly Election from Tamulpur constituency this year who has switched parties a night before the election and joined BJP. Rangja's move helped UPPL candidate Leho Ram Boro an easy victory.
