GUWAHATI: Elite boxer from Assam Lovlina Borgohain has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, becoming the first lady pugilist from Assam to do so.
Chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain for qualifying for the Olympics on Thursday.

“A matter of great joy and pride for us as Lovlina Borgohain becomes the first woman pugilist from Assam to qualify for the #Olympics. My heartiest Congratulations to you Lovlina. You have our finest wishes for the big moment. May you continue to shine and succeed”, the CM tweeted.
Lovlina Borgohain is from Assam's Golaghat district and reportedly belongs to a middle-class family. Her father is a businessman, while her mother is a house wife. She has two older twin sisters as well.
Lovlina recently won bronze in the 69kg category at the Asian Boxing Championship held in Dubai and is expected to be a medal contender at the Olympics.
