An alumnus of Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, from the AISSCE 2019 batch, Pragyan Chakraborty has been selected as a Law Reform Officer with the Department of Children and Families, under the Australian Public Service (APS).
The 23-year-old will formally assume charge on January 12, 2026, in Darwin, the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory. Pragyan’s selection followed a rigorous, multi-stage recruitment process, which included aptitude testing, English fluency assessment, multiple interview rounds, detailed evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate academic records, and assessment of extracurricular and leadership credentials. Academically, Pragyan completed his Master of Public Policy from the University of Sydney with a distinction average, strengthening his credentials for public administration and law reform. He had earlier graduated from Hansraj College, University of Delhi, which laid the foundation for his academic and professional journey on the global stage.
