BPF’s ally, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today fielded Biswajit Daimary for the Rajya Sabha seat. The BPF chief today filed his nomination for the upcoming the Rajya Sabha seat for another term.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) chief Atul Bora, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary, BJP State president Ranjeet Dass were present during his filing of nominations.

It may be mentioned here that so far, nine candidates have collected the forms for nomination papers from the Returning Officer for the Rajya Sabha election, which is slated to be held on March 26, 2020. Bhubaneswar Kalita, Satyendra Prasad Deka, Subha Dutta and Abdul Rezzak had collected their forms on Tuesday.
The last date for filing of nomination papers is March 13. The Rajya Sabha election will be held from 9AM to 4PM. The scrutiny of the same is slated on March 16 and the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers is March 18.
