Assam: BSF apprehends 2 smugglers, seize Ganja, Phensedyl on Indo-Bangladesh border

In different operations, troops of Border Security Force under Guwahati Frontier carried out two joint operations with police and apprehended 02 Indian smugglers along with 32 Kg Ganja and 3463 nos pant piece & 450 bottles Phensedyl in the bordering areas of village Siadelar Kutti, PS Sahebganj District Coohbehar (WB) and Ghewmari, PS& Distt-Dhubri (Assam).

        Acting on tip-off, on 26th July 2020 at about 1315 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Choudharyhat, of 192 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a joint search operation with Police rep of PS Sahebganj in the house of Kamal Barman (34 Yrs) S/o Late Kalanath Barman, Vill- Saidelar Kutti, PS- Sahebganj, Distt- Coochbehar (WB) and recovered 31.8 Kg Ganja from his house & apprehended one Indian national namely Kamal Barman (34 Yrs) S/o Late Kalanath Barman, Vill- Saidelar Kutti, PO-Choudharyhat, PS- Sahebganj, Distt- Coochbehar (WB). Apprehended smuggler and seized contraband items have been handed over to PS Sahebganj, Distt Coochbehar (WB) for further legal action.
        In Second operation, on 26th July 2020, acting on tip-off, troops of Border Out Post Ghewmari, of  67 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a special operation in general area of village Ghewmari, PS & Distt- Dhubri (Assam) and apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler alongwith   05 cattle heads. Apprehended cattle smuggler identified as Sahadat Ali Mondal (22 Yrs) S/o Iman Ali, R/o vill Gachpara, PO Dharamsala, PS & Distt-Dhubri (Assam). 

On 26th July 2020 at about 1630 hrs, as per information revealed by apprehended person, a joint searched operation was carried out with PS Dhubri in the house of Hafizuddin, S/o Tamizuddin Ali, R/o-Silghgri Part-I under PS & Distt Dhubri (Assam). During searched operation, the joint operation party recovered 08 bundles (Total-3463 nos) of pant piece and 48 Nos Saree from his house. Apprehended person alongwith seized items have been handed over to Police Station Dhubri (Assam) for further legal action.

Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier in different operations launched in bordering area, have rescued 79 cattle heads and seized 450 bottles Phensedyl, which were trying to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

         BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all endeavours to contain such trans-border crimes.
