Assam: BSF seized 93 Yaba tablets from South Salmara

Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force ( BSF ) seized 930 nos Yaba tablets on 03^rd Aug 2020, from bordering area of village Kalabari, PS-

Acting on tip off, on 03^rd Aug 2020 at about 2230 hrs, BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Diara, of 06 BN BSF carried out a special operation in general area of village Kalabari, PS-Mankachar, Dist –South Salamara (Assam). Special ambush party seized 930 Nos Yaba tablets on Indo Bangladesh International border, while the consignment was being  thrown over the fence from India to Bangladesh. Seized item has been handed over to PS-Mankachar for further legal action.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes & illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes.

Burma (Myanmar) is the largest producer of methamphetamine in the world, with the majority of ya ba found in Thailand being produced in Burma, particularly in the Golden Triangle and northeastern Shan State, which borders Thailand, Laos, and China.[6] In 2010, Burma trafficked 1 billion tablets to neighbouring Thailand. Ethnic militias and rebel groups (in particular the United Wa State Army) are responsible for much of this production; however, the Burmese military units are believed to be heavily involved in the trafficking of the drugs.
