Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mogilary today hoisting the tricolor flag in Kokrajhar, Assam, welcomed the peace process between the Centre and the four factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland.

Hagrama, paying his respect to Dr. B R Ambedkar, the Father of the Constitution, on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day, urged the people to come together as one and work collectively towards progress and development.
With the signing of an agreement imminent, Hagrama welcomed the peace talks between the Government of India and the four factions of the NDFB and appealed all sections of the public irrespective of community or religion, to stay united as one. The BTC Chief also informed that NDFB leaders, ABSU leaders, Union Minister Amit Shah, Sarbananda Sonowal and he himself, along with several others, will be present during the signing of the peace agreement.

The 71st Republic Day was also celebrated with great fanfare on Sunday at the District Parade Ground of Kajalgaon in Chirang district.
The programme was attended by Chandan Brahma, Minister WPT&BC and Tourism, Govt.of Assam as Chief Guest, who unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of the marching contingents comprising of the Assam Police, school students and scouts and guides.
In his speech, extending his heartiest greetings to all the dignitaries and residents of Chirang district, he paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation - Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, freedom fighters and patriotic leaders who had secured freedom for the nation.
Stating about the agreement going to be inked shortly between the government and NDFB, he called upon the people not to be confused on the basis of rumours and assured that the region would get more financial assistance after the inking of the agreement.
