KOKRAJHAR: The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has announced the names of its candidates for two constituencies in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) for forthcoming assembly bypolls.
UPPL to field former MCLA Jiron Basumatary from Gossaigaon LAC and Jalen Daimary from Tamulpur LAC.
Two constituencies have been lying vacant following the death of its incumbents MLAs.

Majendra Narzary, MLA belonging to Bodoland People's Front (BPF), died of COVID-19 on May 27 and just after two days, Tamulpur UPPL MLA Leho Ram Boro succumbed to COVID-19 on May 29.
In Bhabanipur, another constituency in the BTR, BJP to field former AIUDF MLA Phanidhar Talukdar, and UPPL asserted to help the BJP candidate there.
Rwngwra Narzary, UPPL executive president, also announced that they are going to win from both constituencies this time. BPF has yet to make any announcement regarding bypolls.
