Assam: CAA protester and student leader from Dibrugarh receives death threat

Dibrugarh University Union General Secretary Rahul Chettri has received a death threat on the night of May 6. The call was from an unknown number. The call came at midnight when the caller intimidated Chettri with a death threat. The student leader also received verbal abuse in slang language which was targetted at his mother and sister.

Rahul Chettri said that he was asked to maintain his post as General Secretary and was warned of not trying to anything further. According to Chettri, he alleged that the person might be from Hindi speaker as he was speaking in Hindi

He claims that his involvement against CAA might have been the reason for the death threat and cries political conspiracy over the issue. Following this, an FIR has filed in Lekhapani Police Station by him.

The call and the death threat has alerted the student community across India. Rahul claims, youths across universities and even from human rights have extended their support to him.

Coincidentally, Rahul was earlier summoned by NIA for his involvement in CAA protests and thus allege the "political angle"
