The central leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party has approved the expansion of Sarbananda Sonowal’s cabinet in Assam after a meeting in New Delhi. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma called on BJP National President Amit Shah, who gave a green signal to the cabinet expansion in Assam.
It may be mentioned that the post of eight ministers are lying vacant at present in Sonowal’s ministry. Two of the vacant posts shall go one each to allies Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) and Bodoland Peoples’ Front(BPF). BPF’s Emmanuel Mosahary and Chandan Brahma are candidates for a ministerial berth whereas AGP’s Phani Bhushan Choudhury might get a berth.
According to party sources, rest of the posts shall be filled up by BJP MLAs Pijush Hazarika, Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Siddhartha Bhattacharya.
