GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet on Tuesday has announced to confer state civilian honours of its own and made some decisions regarding the same including remuneration and other facilities to the recipients.

The Cabinet has decided to institute Asom Ranta Award to be presented to one person who has made an immense contribution to society every year with an amount of Rs 5,00,000.

Likewise, Asom Bibhushan Award shall be presented to three persons, while Assam Bhushan shall be presented to five and as many as ten people will be presented with Asom Shri every year.

Each award will carry an award of Rs 3,00,000, Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 1,00,000 respectively.

Apart from the prize money, the recipients shall get medical facilities for critical illness free of cost, free stay at Assam Bhawans, free travel in ASTC buses etc.

A sports pension will also be given on the occasion of Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah's birth anniversary which is on September 7.

Likewise, the artiste shall get a pension on Shilpi Divas every year on January 17.

The list of awardees will be announced 7 seven prior to the presentation ceremony.

To commemorate litterateur Homen Borgohain, whom the state has lost very recent, Literary Pension shall be conferred on his name, every year on his birth anniversary on December 7.

Apart from all these, for smooth implementation of Batadrava Than Cultural & Tourism Project, an additional land measuring 35 bighas 2 katha 2 lecha to be allocated to the management committee as well.
