Silchar: A meeting between the District Administration of Cachar, Assam, and District Administration of Jiribam, Manipur was held at the Conference Hall of DC office Jiribam, Manipur with the intention to increase inter-state vigilance and co-operation in view of the upcoming Assembly Election - 2021 in Assam on Tuesday. 

The meeting from Assam side was attended by  Keerthi Jalli, the DC of Cachar and a host of dignitaries.

From the Manipur side, it was attended by the DC of Jiribam, W. Malemnganba Chenglei.

The Jiribam DC introduced himself and welcomed all the members from Assam side.

After that, DC of Cachar gave brief information on the points to be discussed in the meeting.

The important points discussed in the meeting included checking the movement of illicit liquor, people having double Voter ID Cards in the two states, movements of miscreants, trouble mongers, the supply of illegal arms, request for vehicles from Jiribam for election duty, providing of accommodation for Armed Police Forces in Jiribam side, quick passing of sensitive information and constant monitoring of border both by Cachar Police and Manipur Police.

DC Jiribam and SP Jiribam thanked the Cachar district administration for the co-operation they received during lockdown regarding bringing back migrant workers and contact tracing, etc.

The SP of Jiribam highlighted his concern about some locations of Assam bordering Manipur like Lakhicherra, Lakhinagar, Jorkha, and Tupidhor but he said they will intensify patrolling and area domination from the Manipur side with the active support and cooperation from Assam side.
