ASSAM CHIEF MINISTER CALLS FOR RESTRUCTURING DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION AND PUBLIC RELATION

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has called for a total restructure of the Directorate of Information and Public Relation in a bid to make the department more productive. The restructure aims to make the department at par with the modern day changing trends of mass media. A review meeting of the department was conducted by the CM on Tuesday at the Janata Bhavan. He also issued directions to the officials for preparing a roadmap to ensure proper dissemination of government messages.

The CM also asked the department to create an additional directorate specifically for electronic and social media. He also laid stress on speedy redress of the grievances of media persons and media houses. A new State Advertisement Policy shall also be finalised and steps are being taken for the same. The CM also directed the department to institute awards to encourage young media persons.
