Child Rights activist and founder of Utsah Child Rights Organization Miguel Das Queah on Monday demanded the immediate removal of the top cop charged with sexual assault of a 13-year-old minor on December 31 last.
Gaurav Upadhyay, an IPS officer, has been accused of sexually assaulting the 13-year-old. He is currently posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
Speaking with Inside Northeast, Child Rights Expert and founder of Utsah Child Rights Organization, Miguel Das Queah said, “As a Child Rights body we will be naturally concerned for the child victim. We will be following this case very closely to ensure that justice is delivered as per the procedures established by law.”
Miguel Das Queah further added that for the investigation should be fair, “We seek the immediate removal of the SP from his position of authority. Since an SP's Office is a powerful office, there are chances of the investigation getting influenced in the wrong way...”
