DHUBRI: On the auspicious occasion of Dipawali and Chath Puja, members of Kalibari temple committee took a special step to adopt and distribute clay lamps and clothes in Kalibari, Dhubri.
Hundreds of poor people were distributed clay lamps, mustard oil and fruits during the distribution program at the historic temple on Tuesday, under Government's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative.
Atmanirbhar Bharat, which translates to 'self-reliant India', is a phrase used and popularized by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in relation to the economic vision and economic development in the country. All the items distributed on the occasion has been produced locally.
"This initiative will not only help the poor to celebrate the festival of light but will give a booth to the initiative of the Prime Minister of India of "Atmanirbhar Bharat" said Dipankar Mazumder, a member of Kalibari temple committee. He also added that they will continue this distribution program in the coming years too.
