GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed concern and condemned the grenade blast at Tingrai Market in Digboi, Tinsukia district today.
The chief minister also directed Assam Police Director General Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to apprehend the criminals and deal sternly with the situation.
“This act of violence is a sign of desperation and cowardice, such arrogance that results in the loss of precious human lives will never be tolerated by the state government," CM Samra said in a statement issued here today.

Sarma suggested that the DGP order the Range DIG to rush to the scene, investigate the incident, and apprehend the perpetrators.
Moreover, CM Sarma expressed his condolences for those who died in the grenade blast injuries and wished those who suffered splinter injuries a speedy recovery.
The incident took place today around 1 pm when a customer came to pick up a socket in the electrical hardware shop located at Tingrai under Digboi police station (PS) in the district.
