GUWAHATI: Taking a jibe at the post-poll violence in West Bengal, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday stated that he will welcome his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee to the state 'by rolling out a carpet when she visits' the state.

Speaking to media, the Chief Minister took a dig further and said, "Polls in Assam & WB took place at same time but not a stone was pelted at any house in Assam."

This comes amid the speculations of Trinamool Congress eyeing the Northeast especially after Sushmita Dev's joining of TMC.

Dev has been one of the most prominent face of Assam Congress in the Northeast. It has been speculated that her shift from Assam Congress to TMC may make way for the latter in the Northeast.

Amid this whole charade, Chief Minister further said that the more Banerjee visits Assam and Tripura, the more it will be beneficial for the the states.
