Assam Public Works (APW), the architect behind update of National Register of Citizens (NRC), has welcomed publication of its complete draft on Monday. The NRC update at the direction of Supreme Court followed the organisation filing a petition in this regard at the apex court.
Speaking exclusively to InsideNE, APW president Abhijeet Sharma said publication of the complete NRC draft would put an end to the shop that had been opened and kept running by a section in the name of Bangladeshis for the past 38 years, besides collecting huge donations in the name of the foreigners.
Crediting Bonti Bhuyan and Pradip Kumar Bhuyan, who supported APW during its legal battle to update NRC, Sharma said publication of the complete NRC draft would finally help identify and distinguish the Bangladeshis.
