Both the House Owner and the tenant will have to upload the agreement jointly or separately with details of rent fixed in a Government website related to the Act upon which the government will allow an Identification number.
"Even though this Central Act is not compulsory for the State Government to implement, however, the Chief Minister is ever willing to do so as part of his Modi appeasement policy", stated the spokespersons.
Once effective, the House Owner will have to pay a part of the rent as tax to the state Exchequer failing which the owner will be punishable under the Act.
They further alleged that both the State & Central Government have exposed themselves to shameless failures due to their inability to control the continuous price rise of essential commodities.
"We call for widespread public protest against this law and demand the government to stop the implementation of the Act in Assam once for all",they stated.
They further alleged that the state government is bent upon increasing resources by levelling new taxes on already economically stressed people, considering the sorry state of the economy.
