Assam: Congress demands probe into Samaguri incident

Guwahati, May 30, 2019:

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Congress leader Rockybul Hussain and Nurul Huda on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Director-General of Police, demanding probe into the violent attack on the convoy of Congress leader at Samuguri yesterday.

Addressing the media, Ripun Bora alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is unable to accept their defeat in Nagaon and Kaliabor, so they have attacked the convoy of the Rockybul Hussain. He further alleged that the police have been working as per the command of the BJP.

On the other hand, Debabrata Saikia has demanded to take strict action against the one who was involved in the violent attack on the two Congress leaders. The opposition leader also said the party has been repeatedly attacked but no actions were taken till date.

He further alleged that the BJP is trying to weaken the Congress party by such attacks.
