Assam Constable Allegedly Molests 14-Year-Old Minor, Arrested

Tinsukia, October 14, 2019:

A Barekuri Police Station official in Assam has been disgraced after it came to light that he had allegedly molested a 14-year-old girl.

A constable, who allegedly molested a 14-year-old minor, has drawn the anger of the local residents, who barged into the Police Station, demanding justice for the child.

According to reports, the constable had gone to a shop owned by the father of the child. After allegedly molesting her, the constable had apparently tried to bribe the child not to divulge it to anyone.

The victim told the media that the constable had visited their shop to buy rice. "The policeman took me inside, and tore off my clothes. I slapped him, but then he took out something from his pocket, that could have been money. I did not want it, I said", she added.

She further alleged that this is not the first time that she has been molested. "Once he touched me inappropriately. That time, I did not tell anyone out of shame", she added.

Officials said that the the authorities have arrested the man, and a case has been lodged against him. "All legal steps will be taken to ensure that justice is meted out", said an Assam police official, while talking to the media.
