A Police Outpost in Assam’s Baksa district has become the talk of the town for its unique beautification initiative undertaken by the men in uniform themselves.
The Darranga Mela Outpost under the Tamulpur Police Station has become a colorful place after the police personnel here created a flowers’ paradise with a colourful display that could rival a park's.

Located near the Samdrup Jongkhar town in Bhutan, the Darranga Mela Police Outpost now flaunts a well maintained garden with a myriad variety of flowers such as sunflowers, dahlias, marigold, dianthus, tansy, roses, and other seasonal flowers.
Flowers at every corner seem to welcome visitors of this Outpost and behind this beautification drive are Outpost In-charge, Dersung Narzary, and some of the constables.
After joining in March, 2019, Narzary utilized the extra space in the Outpost. “I saw that we had space in the front side. Previous In-charges were not interested in utilizing the space. So, we decided to build a garden here. We have planted seasonal flowers and whatever is available locally,” said Narzary.

According to the IC, the garden has improved the beauty of the Outpost. “When the people see this, they really appreciate our efforts. It feels good that we came up with something good despite our busy schedule,” he added.
