Not too long ago, an Assam Police personnel Ratul Gogoi was seen distributing pens to students outside an examination centre in Sivasagar district where students had turned up to appear for the +2 examinations.
Soon, a video of Gogoi distributing pens to the students went viral, and prominent journalist Anupam Bordoloi, posting the video on Twitter, wrote, "An Assam Police jawan Ratul Gogoi has won hearts after he was seen distributing pens as a good luck gesture to students appearing for their class 12 final exams."
Despite having an AK rifle slung over his back, the policemen was spreading the message of peace, charity, and development through literacy and education -- all through this single great symbolic gesture.
"He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.” -- Quote from 'The Dark Knight'
At a time when the police community nationwide is under the scanner for their alleged acts of violence against the masses agitating Government policies, Gogoi's act will go a long way in restoring faith in the armed forces, which is absolute must in the world's largest democracy, India.
Needless to say, netizens were all-praise for Gogoi and comment flowed thick and fast on Twitter. "Kudos .. Liked the positive spirit", wrote one user, while another said, "Such a fantastic job.
However, some netizens were skeptical and argued that Gogoi's pen-distribution could be a PR stunt. "These heart winning gestures are made to be filmed and distributed otherwise true face of Assam Police is known in closed quarters".
