BOKAJAN: Impersonating as buyers, a team of Assam Police personnel arrested a gang of drug dealers along the Assam-Nagaland border near here yesterday.
Posing as buyers, a team of Bokajan police contacted the drug dealers to purchase heroin from them.
The team of police apprehended the drug dealers from Rajdhani Restaurant at Khatkhati near here when they came to deliver the contraband in an auto rickshaw bearing registration number NL07 F 9817.
The police recovered 318 gram of heroin, packed in 25 soap cases, from the possession of the drug dealers Nagendra Mahato and Babul Kumar.
Mahato is a resident of Ghorapatti in Dimapur, the business capital of Nagaland.
The seized contraband has been valued at about Rs 10 lakh in the grey market.
Khatkhati in Karbi Anglong district along Assam-Nagaland border is a known hub of illegal activity such as drug deals, illegal trade in Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), transit point of stolen vehicles from all over India and gun running.

Despite frequent crackdown on drug smugglers by Karbi Anglong police, trade of narcotics continues unabated in the area.
