Three cops of Assam Police were felicitated for their timely action in an ATM fraud case.
Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, IPS Deepak Kumar felicitated three cops namely, HC Apurba Roy, HG Afajur Ali and DHG Dibakar Deka of Garchuk Police Station for their courage, intelligence and devotion towards duty.
The three cops had acted on time to nab a criminal while attempting to loot an ATM at Sawkuchi near Garchuk Police Station. The arrested, identified as Arif (21), was caught while he was trying to cut the ATM machine full of cash on September 29.

Arif, hailing from Haryana, was caught along with ATM cutting tools. He is an inter-state criminal involved in several loot cases, according to Police. The ATM case refers to Garchuk Police Station case no. 724/2019 u/s 457/380/511/461/34 IPC.
It is to be mentioned here that Guwahati has been witnessing several ATM fraud cases in the past few months. As many as 46 such cases were reported in the city in September. City residents had, reportedly, lost nearly Rs 16.85 lakhs to fraud cases.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks are liable to return the entire lost amount to the victim in fraud cases if notified within a stipulated time period.
