In an interesting case, a policeman has found his name missing from the complete draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) published on Monday.
The name of Alom Bhuyan, who works in the Special Branch (SB) of Assam Police as ASI and currently posted at Kahilipara headquarters, has not been included in the NRC draft.
What makes Alom’s plight even strange is the fact that his name was once included in “D” (doubtful) voters’ list on suspicion of being a foreigner when he was still part of the Chief Minister’s security team. Fortunately, the Foreigners’ Tribunal provided him relief by ruling in his favour.
Son of Afazuddin Bhuyan alias Afaz Bhuyan and Chejeman Nessa alia Chajeran Nessa of Barbila village in Barpeta district, Alom’s brother Ohajuddin Bhuyan also served in the Assam Police’s SB and retired as ASI.
