The students of Cotton College in Guwahati city of Assam have joined the mass protests against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, with pamphlets demanding the withdrawal of the Bill becoming commonplace across the college campus.
A CAB Opposition Organization has now come into being in the college, and consists of students from the University, who have demanded the Central Government to immediately withdraw the contentious Bill.

Posters and pamphlets decrying the current administration demanding withdrawal of the Bill can be seen across the campus -- on gates, walls, corridors, and even toilets. Signs such as "Narendra Modi go back", "Cottonians oppose CAB", and "Himanta go back" can be seen plastered on the walls in the campus.
The students of the college seem to have adopted a completely anti-CAB approach, and Mrinmoy Kalita, a former student tells Inside Northeast that it is the need of the hour to push back against the Bill, which has been condemned by student bodies across the Northeast, under the umbrella body, the Northeast Students' Organization (NESO).

Pranjal Kalita, who is leading the protests at the University, says that the students are organizing a unique "We are organizing a naam-kirtan, so that the alumni of Cotton instrumental in bringing the CAB -- such as Assam Ministers Himanta Biswa and Siddhartha Bhattacharya -- find the ability to listen to the voice of reason."
