A curfew has been imposed in Guwahati city of Assam, amid the ongoing protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Meanwhile, internet has been suspended for the next 24 hours in the following districts: Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sibsagar, Johat, Golaghat, Kamrup (M) and Kamrup
Amid the reigning chaos on the streets of Guwahati, the Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar informed mediapersons that a curfew has been imposed from 6:15 pm, which will be lifted once the situation improves in the city.

Earlier today, tens of thousands took to the streets to protest against the controversial legislation, which has already been passed in the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, discussions are on in the Rajya Sabha.
Assam, meanwhile, has been plunged into chaos of the magnitude of the six-years long Assam Agitation to drive out illegal 'Bangladeshi' settlers. Meanwhile, Indian army personnel have been deployed on the streets of Guwahati and Tripura, and the streets in the Assam capital Dispur have reportedly been cleared of protesters.
