With a view to maintaining status quo along the Assam-Mizoram inter-state border, a Deputy Commissioner level meeting was held at Bairabi in Hailakandi on Monday.
The meeting between the district administrations of Hailakandi and Kolasib of both the states was held in a cordial atmosphere at PWD Inspection Bungalow at Bairabi and agreed to maintain the status quo along the inter-state border.
The meeting discussed the prevailing law and order situation along the Assam-Mizoram inter-state border and ways for maintaining peace and harmony. It decided to further strengthen the relations between the peoples living in peaceful co-existence along the inter-state border.
Asserting mischievous elements should not be allowed to create misunderstanding among the people living in border areas, the meeting agreed to intensify point-to-point contact of border magistrates, share information, and strengthen the deployment of security forces, including patrolling.
The meeting that lasted for almost two hours, was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli, Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ranadip Dam, Hailakandi district, Deputy Commissioner, Zoengsanga and Superintendent of Police, Vanlalfaka Ralte, Kolasib district. Divisional Forest Officers of Hailakandi and Kolasib districts were also present along with other police and civil officials.
