Assam detects 22 more COVID-19 cases, count nears 1400

Assam has reported 22 new COVID-19 cases taking the total to 1361 as on June 1^st, 2020. Since May 31st, 2020 midnight, a total of 89 positive cases have been reported.

Of the 89 confirmed cases, 14 are from Dibrugarh, 4 from Dhemaji, 3 from Tinsukia, one from Charaideo, 16 from Tinsukia, 10 from Goalpara, 9 from Kokrajhar, 7 from Sivasagar, 7 from Nagaon, 5 from Sonitpur, 3 from Karimganj, 2 from Kamrup, 2 from Golaghat and 2 from Baksa

With this, a total of 145 cases reported on May 31^st, 2020, alone.

Informing this Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted:

Assam has crossed 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31^st, 2020. First 100 cases were reported on May 17^th, 2020.

With this, the state reported 159 positive cases on May 30^th, 2020 while 174 cases on May 29^th, which was the single-day highest, 97 cases on May 28^th and 92 cases on May 27^th. The state registered 116 cases on May 26^th, 2020 while on May 25^th, 2020, the state recorded 147 cases. On May 24th, 2020, Assam registered 46 COVID-19 cases while on May 23rd, 2020, the state registered 67 cases while 49 cases were reported on May 22nd, 2020.

COVID-19 in Assam & Northeast

The COVID-19 has infected a total of 1216 people and claimed four lives in Assam. Of 1216 confirmed cases, 1046 are active cases and 163 have been cured or discharged while three patients were migrated.

Assam is followed by Tripura with 313 cases and Nagaland 43 cases.

India cases so far

The novel coronavirus has infected over 1.9 lakh people and claimed over 5394 lives as on June 1^st, 2020, morning, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There are 93322 active cases with 91819 cases discharged and cured.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 2 thousand deaths. It has recorded 67655 corona cases with 29329 cured and 2286 deaths. The western state is followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Gujarat has corona 16779 cases with 9919 cured and 1038 deaths. Tamil Nadu has registered 22333 cases with 12757 cured and 173 deaths. The National Capital with 19844 COVID-19 cases has crossed the 10 thousand mark on May 25th, 2020. So far, 8478 have been cured in Delhi with 473 deaths.
