GUWAHATI: Raunak Ali Hazarika, an IPS officer from Assam has been suspended by Governor Jagadish Mukhi on Tuesday for undertaking numerous foreign tours without the permission from the Home Department of Government of Assam.
At the time of suspension, Hazarika was posted as the DIGP (Border-I).
As per the government notification, the officer had never obtained prior permission from the Home Department for his ‘numerous’ foreign tours since the date of his joining Assam Police Service.

The Governor of Assam, in the exercise of powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-rule (i) of rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, has placed Rounak Ali Hazarika under suspension with immediate effect.
Hazarika is to face a disciplinary proceeding by the department for flouting government guidelines. Hazarika has been attached with the office of the Director General of Police and has been instructed not to leave the headquarters without permission.
